Northwestern Agusan Colleges is a private institution located at the charming municipality of Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, dubbed as the “Timber Land of the South”. It is ranked as one of the Higher Educational Institution in CARAGA Region. The campus life revolves around the context of serving the community as to nurture, act, and care for humanity. It is NAC’s mission to provide an affordable education, deliver quality and inclusive instructions, become a globally-engaged institution, and produce morally-nurtured individuals. Students are expected to put their education to work in service to others — another mark that distinguishes NAC from other institutions of higher learning. 

HISTORY

Northwestern Agusan Colleges known as N A C , has a rich history that dates back to its establishment in 1967 as it bears the name - Nasipit Institute. The school originally offering a secondary course exclusively for first and second year students only and dramatically expanded and introduced a complete secondary course the following year, culminating  the first graduates of batch 1969.

                The school was founded by influential figures from the local community NALCO workers, including the Noriega, Dompor, Rotor, Gicum, and Tupaz families, who served as the Board of Trustees and the stockholders. Responding to the increasing demand for tertiary education among Nasipit high school graduates, the founders made the strategic decision way back in 1975 to establish tertiary education program which initially offered courses in Junior Secretarial, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration to cater the educational need of the children of the NALCO employees.

Continuing its commitment for academic growth, the school expanded its program offerings in 1988 to which include the new course offering, Bachelor in Elementary Education. To help accommodate the growing college program, an annex building was constructed at Curato Street in Nasipit. In 1990, under the leadership of Mrs. Pelegrina D. Leonardo , acting as the school director, the Elementary Department was hailed as a laboratory school for the Bachelor in  Elementary Education program. As the student population continued to grow, a new structure was constructed that served as the main campus to provide an ample space for the increasing number of enrollees which was situated at Bayview Hill, Triangulo in the same municipality.

As the school continuously aiming on its progress, it opened the door for complete K-12 program and embraced the opening of the Nursery & Pre-school and it was also paralleled by the opening of the Senior High School program in 2016 as it pioneered the offering of Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM); Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS); and General Academic Strand (GAS) strands. The dedicated team of fifteen teachers, eleven of whom are licensed, ensures the high-quality education provided to both Junior High and Senior High school students under the supervision of was then High School Principal, Mrs. Maria Luz J. Golosino.

Embracing the importance of a well-rounded education, the school expanded its Academic Track in the School Year 2019-2020 to include the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand, further empowering students with diverse educational opportunities. The expansion in the Senior High School program brought the school to its realm of success as student graduates exceled in the different fields which they are aligned.

On February 27, 2023, t’was the momentous 56th founding anniversary of the institution, highlighted by the launching  of the NACian Hymn as the official hymn of the school   which was sang by Ms. Emie Jean Procia, a BSBA student. It was indeed a testament to the institution's enduring legacy in serving the community and more fully signifies the commitment of every student to do good and be a vessel to live with integrity and self-discipline respect and affection to everyone in every they live in.

As the institution heading towards to become a catalyst of change and of becoming a competitive school revisited the school's Philosophy, Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives, and the Core Values. This endeavor aimed to fully grasp the aspirations and meaning of a true NACian, ensuring that the institution stays aligned with its founding principles as it continues to provide quality education.
